Some prop firms have a different definition of grid trading. Here is an example from the FundedNext prop firm:
Grid trading refers to a trading strategy with opposing buy and sell orders for the same financial instrument with similar risk parameters. At FundedNext, grid trading is prohibited due to its potential for market manipulation, over-leveraging, market instability, and the pursuit of risk-free profits.
It’s clearly different from the kind of grid trading used by Waka Waka. There are no opposing buy and sell orders. In this case, presumably, we do not violate rules by using Waka Waka. However, it’s best to contact the support team of the prop firm you plan to trade with to get clarity and confirm the details.
Some prop firms forbid grid trading after passing through but allow it during the challenge/evaluation phase. In this case, you can use Waka Waka to pass and switch to another kind of trading after that.
In summary, it all depends on details and the particular prop firm in question.
